The Writer’s Block: A Video Q&A With Akhil Sharma

In this segment of The Writer’s Block Akhil Sharma talks about revision, writing from a child’s point of view, and why it took him twelve years to write Family Life.

On April 12, 2014 Akhil Sharma came to City of Asylum Pittsburgh to read from his newest novel, Family Life. Before the reading Sharma sat down with Sampsonia Way to talk about the novel.

Akhil Sharma has written one other novel, An Obedient Father, which won the PEN/Hemingway Award, and his short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Quarterly, and Best American Short Stories 1998.
